MUA | Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer's in Kooky and Funk: £3.00 each -

I've been dying to try these new Velvet Lip Lacquers from the new MUA Luxe range that launched late last year. I love matte lip products so I just couldn't resist these, especially for £3.00 each! They're the same idea as the Sleek Matte Me lip creams (which I love) and the Lime Crime Velvetines (which I haven't tried), a very creamy liquid lipstick that after application dries to a matte finish.

Sleek Matte Me Lip Creams | Fandango Purple & Birthday Suit

Sleek Matte Me Lip Creams in Fandango Purple and Birthday Suit: £4.99 each -

These Matte Me Lip Cream's are one of the latest releases from Sleek Make Up, so I picked up two shades that really caught my eye. Fandango Purple is a magenta purple with an almost raspberry undertone. It's a cross between MAC's Rebel and Heroine, with some hot pink thrown in to make it a bit more wearable. I really really love it. Birthday Suit is the perfect nude shade with peachy undertones that doesn't totally wash me out. I normally look terrible with nude lips but Birthday Suit looks fab, especially with a smoky eye look.

As for the formula, these really are matte! If you have any dryness in your lips whatsoever, you definitely need to exfoliate and moisturise before wearing these. They go on really creamy (not unlike the Rimmel Apocalips) but dry to a totally matte finish. Once they've set they really don't move, as with everything they won't last through a full night of eating and drinking, but otherwise they stay well! Fandango Purple also leaves a nice stain on the lips. If you want lasting power but don't like the dryness of a matte lip, once these have set you can pop a gloss over the top and it doesn't all smush together!

Overall I really really like these. There are 3 more shades in the range as well as 5 Gloss Me lip products. As far as I'm aware these are limited edition (don't quote me on that!) so I will be repurchasing these two shades as back ups since they are a bargainous £4.99!

Revlon Evening Opulence Collection | Lip Butter & Colorburst Gloss

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Invite Only: £7.99 (2 for £10 in Boots)
Revlon ColorBurst Lip Gloss in Adorned: £7.99 (2 for £10 in Boots)

Revlon recently released their A/W products for 2013, called the Evening Opulence collection. It consisted of two new lip butters, two new glosses and a couple of eyeshadow quads. I picked up one lip butter and one gloss, and here are my thoughts on them!

Don't panic, the lip butter in Invite Only isn't actually mint green! Only the packaging has a minty hue, the actual lip balm is clear with mint and blue iridescent sparkles. Not really worth £7.99 if I'm honest. It's also not as soft as the usual lip butters, it has a harder more balmy texture, which I quite like. It seems to be one of those 'teeth whitening' shades because of the blue sparkles. Although I love the outer packaging, the product itself is nothing to shout about and I won't repurchase.

The Color Burst lip gloss is a totally different story, its packed with colour! It's so pigmented I'd call it more of a lip lacquer than a lip gloss! It's a gorgeous magenta pink with pink and purple shimmer that really shows through. Plus it's not sticky! I'm really really impressed, it's the first lip gloss I've tried from Revlon and I'd definitely buy more.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain | #9 Rouge Laque

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in #9 Rouge Laque: £23.50 (£14.10) from Debenhams -

My second YSL Glossy Stain purchase was not pre-planned, I spotted this for £14.10 in the Debenhams sale and snapped it up! #9 Rouge Laque is a true red shade, which on first application verges on 'tomato' but after a second coat turns into the perfect bright red.

I absolutely love these stains. They take two coats for totally opaque coverage, but the pigmentation and wear time are incredible, and they aren't at all sticky. It won't last through a whole night of eating and drinking, but the point of these is that they leave a gorgeous stain on the lips! I'm not a gloss fan at all but these have to be my all time favourite. You get quite a precise application from the pointed wand and it doesn't distribute too much product. You might have to dip into the tube a couple of times to coat the lips twice, but I'd rather that than an overload.

I would never have picked #9 Rouge Laque unless it was in the sale, but I'm glad I did, it's gorgeous! I'd highly recommend these to anyone and they're definitely worth the hefty price tag of £23.50 if you're looking for a little luxury. I can't wait to try the new Rebel Nudes collection and also compare these to the L'oreal dupe which I haven't tried yet!

MAC Lipstick in Mehr

MAC Lipstick in Mehr: £15.00 from maccosmetics.co.uk -

I was lucky enough to win another MAC lipstick giveaway (I am so so lucky and grateful!), this time from the lovely Becky over at Beckawoo! I only had one lipstick I really wanted on my wishlist: Mehr.

Mehr is a medium neutral pink and is a matte finish, my favourite! It looks a little lighter in the photo above than in real life, but as you'll see it really is the perfect neutral pink. It's creamy and not too drying, the usual story with MAC matte lipsticks.

I've really struggled with light pink lipsticks over the years, anything too baby pink totally washes me out. On me, Mehr is a complete MLBB (my lips but better) shade. I'll include a FOTD with it on soon.

I absolutely adore this colour, it's the perfect everyday shade and I can see myself buying this again and again! Definitely check Mehr out if you're looking for pink lips that aren't too pale!

Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencils | Review & Swatches

Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencils in Vanilla Sky & Hot Chocolate: £2.50 each (normally £3.19) from Boots and Superdrug -

Firstly I want to apologise for the lack of posts recently! It was my birthday two weeks ago, and then last week I was on holiday! But normal service will resume. Whilst on holiday I picked up these Collection Work The Colour pencils from Boots. They were £2.50 each, an absolute bargain. I've been testing them out ever since and I've got to say I'm really pleased!

I don't normally go for cream eyeshadows, but these fared really well! They won't stick around all day, nothing does, but their lasting time was really impressive. They apply really creamy, but once they dry they do not budge. Seriously, I had the hardest time getting those swatches off my hand and on my eyes they needed a good wipe too. The colours are gorgeous too. Vanilla Sky is quite comparable to MAC's Bare Study Paint Pot, and Hot Chocolate is very similar to the MAC eyeshadow in Satin Taupe! I think there are 4 other colours available; a baby pink, charcoal grey, navy blue and a black.

The thing I like most about these are that they're easy. Just pop them on the lid, blend them out a bit and you're good to go! Hot Chocolate is perfect on its own and Vanilla Sky is lovely with a bit of brown shadow in the crease. I really like these and recommend trying them!

MUA One Direction Range | Coral Cutie Cheek Tint & Moments Lipstick

MUA One Direction 'What Makes You Beautiful' Cheek Tint in Coral Cutie: £3.00
MUA One Direction 'Kiss You' Lipstick in Moments (Niall): £3.00

Let me start off by saying I'm not a One Direction fan. Not one bit (apart from the fact Harry looks like a young Mick Jagger, yum). But I'd heard/seen so many good things about this range from MUA that I had to try a couple of products!

The lipstick in Moments is a lovely pale pink with shimmer. Normally, I don't get on with pale pinks as they wash me out completely. However moments is just neutral enough that it suits me and it's a lovely everyday shade! The only similar colour I've owned is Sweetie by MAC.

And normally I don't get on with cream blush either! But Coral Cutie is so pigmented and lasts for about 3/4 hours before fading, but would last longer set with powder. It applies beautifully and blends nicely (I used a Real Techniques buffing brush).

As you can see, both products are incredibly pigmented! Coral Cutie is just a gorgeous pastel peach shade, and as previously mentioned Moments is a neutral baby pink that doesn't lean blue or red, but definitely has some peachy undertones.

Although I'm not a 1D fan I'd definitely recommend these products and I plan on buying another cheek tint in the shade Rose Riot. They're up to MUA's usual high standard and bargain prices, and the packaging is cute!

MAC Fashion Sets 2013 | Heroine Lipstick & Pencil

MAC Lipstick in Heroine: £14.00
MAC Lip Pencil in Heroine: £11.50

As some of you may know, I hunted high and low for this lipstick and liner. I tried every online retailer to no avail, they had all sold out! I finally managed to get my hands on them at the MAC counter in Glasgow. I phoned them that morning and they confirmed they had it in stock!

Heroine is a stunning magenta purple, and I love it! It's a lot bolder than anything I would normally go for but I just couldn't resist, I love purple!

The formula is matte, which is my favourite lipstick formula from MAC. Heroine was released as part of a collection last year/two years ago and I've been lusting after it ever since! So glad I have it now.

There's also a lipglass, eyeshadow and nail lacquer all in the Heroine shade. I really love the lipglass but I've started my summer spending ban (post coming soon). The MAC Fashion Sets Collection is selling out very quickly, especially Heroine, but you can still find a few bits and pieces online and in store!

Illamasqua Haul | Eurydice & Atomic Lipsticks

I decided to indulge in two lipsticks during the Illamasqua Easter Hunt sale, and I don't regret it one bit!

Illamasqua Lipsticks in Eurydice & Atomic: £16.00 each - Atomic looks a bit weird but all those bubbles are gone now. The only lipstick I've had from Illamasqua before was Fetish, and it was absolutely rubbish. But its a totally different story with these two.

Eurydice is an insanely bright fuschia pink. It's matte and is quite a dry formula, but it lasts for ages on the lips! Thumbs up!

Atomic is probably now my favourite lipstick ever. Again, a bright fuschia pink, this has a touch more red to it and a beautiful purple/blue duochrome running through it. Despite the shimmer, the formula is again matte and the lasting power is outstanding!

(P.S sorry for the rubbish lip shots, I didn't have time to make sure my lips were lined perfectly!)

NYX | Lip Pencil Haul & Swatches

I'd heard so many good things about NYX's lip liners I couldn't resist picking some up when they were on 3 for 2 on their website. I'm so glad we can get NYX easily in the UK now, as its shaping up to be a brilliant brand, and really popular!

I choses 7 shades of liner (from top) Cabaret, Deep Purple, Hot Red, Purple Rain, Fuchsia, Mauve and Nude Pink, at £3.00 each. They were on 3 for 2 and delivery was £4.50 so all in all I paid about £20.00, not too bad!

The liners aren't the longest pencils, they're about 3/4 the size of regular eye/lip liners but they are really cheap.

They're creamy and pigmented. I can't comment on how long they all last, but I wore Deep Purple yesterday along with MAC's Rebel and it lasted a good few hours, but it comes off when eating and drinking.

I think these are a great wee addition to my collection, I needed more liners to keep my lipstick in place and these fit the bill nicely! NYX have an amazing colour range so definitely check them out!

Rimmel Apocalips | Celestial & Galaxy

I know there have been millions of reviews of these, but here's my two cents!

Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial and Galaxy: £5.99 from Boots and Superdrug - These hotly anticipated lip laquers from Rimmel have finally been released. I bought mine from the Rimmel Facebook shop last week, but they've started to appear in Boots and Superdrug stores now.

I bought two shades, Celestial; a rosy pink, and Galaxy; a plummy purple with shimmer.

These are so so creamy. They apply like a dream and aren't sticky. The doe foot applicator actually has a dip in it meaning you can apply product to your entire lips in one go! I can't say too much about the lasting time yet, as I haven't worn either for long, but so far so good.

Celestial

Galaxy

I'm really liking these so far. I'm definitely impressed, and will purchase more shades in the future, (Stellar, the almost neon pink really caught my eye!). These really do live up to their hype.

Benefit | High Flyin' Glosses

This beautiful Benefit High Flyin' Glosses set was a late Christmas present from my cousin and his lovely girlfriend!

I would never have picked this set up as I'm not a fan of tube lip glosses, but now I have these I'm so glad I do. They're so cute! The set contains six mini lip glosses which correspond to the box powders that Benefit also sell. For mini's these are a good size and contain 6.5ml of product each.

The set contains six colours, Coralista, Dallas, Bella Bamba, Hoola, Sugarbomb and Dandelion!

Coralista, Dallas, Bella Bamba

Hoola, Sugarbomb, Dandelion

Coralista is a sheer coral (duh!) with no shimmer, Dallas is a more opaque pinky brown with no shimmer, and Bella Bamba is a sheer bright pink with coral undertones. Hoola is a nude with golden shimmer, Sugarbomb is a dusky pink with gold/silver shimmer and Dandelion is a pale peach with golden shimmer.

All the glosses went on really smoothly and weren't sticky in the slightest, brilliant news! I'm not sure if you can get this set any more but Benefit sell the full sized version of these glosses at £13.50 each, online and at their counters.

Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in Lace

Hello lovelies! Last week I noticed Sleek Make Up had restocked their Blush by 3 palette in Lace on their website, amd I quickly snapped it up. They are only available online now, and Lace has been out of stock for months, so I'm so glad to have it!

Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in Lace: £10.00

The packaging is lovely, sleek and black with shiny writing, just what I like! Its not a large palette at all, but a perfect size for travelling.

Chantilly, Guipure, Crochet

It contains 3 blushes, Chantilly, Guipure and Crochet, and boy are they bright! Chantilly is a matte tangerine colour with peachy undertones, Guipure is a shimmery rose gold, and Crochet is a matte bright coral pink. They are highly pigmented, and very very bright! I recommend those with pale skin to apply with caution, and a light hand.

These really are much brighter than in these swatches, but they're so beautiful. I don't have many scary bright colours in my blush collection, so I'm excited to see what they work with!

Hope you enjoyed this post! I'll be back soon with a biggggg Illamasqua haul, but bye for now! xx

MAC Heavenly Creature Collection Haul and Swatches

Hello everyone! So, as I'm sure most of you will know, MAC released their Heavenly Creature Collection at the end of last week! I've been excited for the launch of this collection for a while, so  ordered a couple of things!

Disclaimer: I saved up to buy things from this collection. Makeup is my hobby, its what I choose to spend my money on and I started this blog so my makeup wasn't just sitting in my drawers, instead it is providing information and inspiration for other beauty lovers! I'm also on a spending ban after buying these. Anyway, onto showing you what I got!

I got three things, two Mineralize Skinfinishes from the Heavenly Creature collection, and one Mineralize Eyeshadow from the MAC permanent collection. I've been wanting to try MAC's MSF's for so long now, so I was so happy to get my hands on these!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Star Wonder - £21.50
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light Year - £21.50
MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Young Punk - £16.50

First off, we have the MSF in Star Wonder. These are different from normal MAC MSF's in that they are several colours swirled together. Star Wonder is a beautiful mix of a pale gold, a bright peachy pink and a darker pink that leans towards being mauve.

Next up is Light Year MSF. This is what mainly attracted me to the Heavenly Creature collection, its a mixture of pale nudey peach, a darker pinky peach and a gold swirl.

Finally we have Mineralize Eyeshadow in Young Punk, which was originally part of the 'Style Black' collection in 2009, but was recently added to the permanent collection. Its the most beautiful eyeshadow I've ever come across. It has a black base, with lots of purple and magenta glitter and some silver. I don't wear dark eyes very often anymore, but I think I can easily say this is now my favourite eyeshadow ever.

Now, onto the swatches!

Light Year and Star Wonder without flash.
Light Year and Star Wonder with flash.
As you can see, Light Year is a beautiful peach with lots of gold shimmer. It is quite sheer, and needs to be built up on lighter skins, although it would make a beautiful highlighter on darker skintones. Star Wonder, which I didn't plan on buying at first, has turned out to be my favourite out of the two MSF's. Its a gorgeous peachy pink with again, lots of gold shimmer. Many bloggers have compared it to NARS's famous Orgasm blush. I don't own Orgasm, but I have compared it to another dupe I own, Benefit's Coralista, and they are very similar!

Young Punk, dry and wet, without flash.

Young Punk, dry and wet, with flash.
As you can see, Young Punk applies black with purple and magenta glitter. It can be applied either dry or wet, one of the benefits of the baked eyeshadows, and is so much more intense when applied wet. I've been applying it wet to my eyelid then using a little of it dry to help blend it out. I seriously can't get over how much I love this, I'm so glad its part of the permanent collection now!

I'm so chuffed with what I've bought from the collection. There are so many more things I'd happily have from the Heavenly Creatre collection, I have my eye on the blush in Supernova. But, as I'm on a spending ban, I'll just need to wait and hope the collection is still available after my birthday in August!

I hope you enjoyed this post! I still have lots of posts coming up, even though I'm on a spending ban I've got plenty of things to review for you from the last month of over-spending! xx
