LUSH Danger! Cosmetics To Go Book Launch And Xmas Event

The lovely author, Mira Manga! (excuse the thumb in the corner).
My copy of Danger! Cosmetics To Go and the amazing goody bag contents!
I was recently lucky enough to be invited to LUSH Cosmetics on Glasgow's Buchanan Street for the launch of their first ever book: Danger! Cosmetics To Go. Myself and some other lovely Scottish bloggers were asked along to hear more about the book from it's author, Mira Manga, and to check out all their gorgeous Christmas gifts!

Danger! Cosmetics To Go is an absolutely stunning book and definitely one for keeping out on your coffee table! Heres what LUSH have to say about it: "Danger! Cosmetics To Go is the story of the company that preceded LUSH and tells of the meteoric rise and devastating fall of the dynamic cosmetics brand that revolutionised bathing and enchanted customers with their innovative offerings, all well ahead of their time". The book includes entertaining stories and incredible images of the products that inspired LUSH, infact I would love for them to bring some back! It's so colourful and enticing, you can't help but pick it up and read it. We also got the chance to chat with the author Mira Manga (who is amazing and very funny!) and she told us about her personal connection with the book and how much fun she had writing it.

We were treated to some lovely drinks and nibbles, and were thoroughly pampered. I got the chance to smell and test out some products I'd never seen before, and boy oh boy did I lust over some of those Christmas gifts! We were sent home with a copy of the book each and an unbelievably generous goody bag! If you're a lover of all things LUSH, or know someone who is, Danger! Cosmetics To Go would make a perfect gift for yourself or someone else! It's available at all LUSH stores and retails at £19.95.

LUSH | Superbalm

LUSH Superbalm Scalp Treatment: £12.00 -

Superbalm is a relatively new product from LUSH, designed to treat all sorts of scalp problems including dandruff, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. I was so excited when they brought this out, as I've suffered from dandruff since my early teens, and in the last few years developed seborrheic dermatitis. It's not pleasant to talk about so I won't, but safe to say I needed a miracle product as Head & Shoulders just wasn't cutting it!

Although it's pricey at £12.00 for a teeny tub, this stuff really does work. All you do is rub Superbalm onto your scalp 20 minutes before washing your hair. I usually leave it on a little longer and make sure I part my hair so the balm goes onto my scalp properly. The only downside is I find it difficult to apply to the back of my head, I may end up asking my Mum for a hand! After two or three applications the flakes around my hairline have all but disappeared and that part of my head is almost itch free! Result!

If you suffer from any sort of scalp problems I would highly recommend trying this! It's saved me a visit to my GP and being prescribed potentially nasty steroid shampoos.

Xmas 2012 | Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Hello everyone! I really enjoyed putting together my Christmas wishlist so I thought I'd do a stocking stuffer post. I think these would all make amazing stuffing stockers for beauty addicts!

Xmas 2012 | Stocking Stuffer Ideas
from l-r, clockwise: Models Own Wonderland Collection, The Body Shop Lip Balm Lollipop, LUSH Snow Fairy, Gilette Venus, Impulse Body Spray, Batiste Dry Shampoo, Scottish Fine Soaps, Yankee Candle

Models Own Wonderland Collection - £5.00 each or £20.00 for set: Models Own's winter collection of nail polishes are absolutely gorgeous and one would make a perfect stocking stuffer, or you could go for the whole set!

The Body Shop Lip Balm Lollipop - £10.00: This lovely set contains The Body Shop's Born Lippy balms, which smell absolutely amazing.

LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel - £3.25 for 100g: Although they sell bigger bottles of shampoo, I feel like this little bottle makes a perfect stocking stuffer! Snow Fairy is limited edition for Christmas, and smells of peardrops and candyfloss, its so sweet without being sickly.

Yankee Candle Sampler Votives - £1.90 each: Yankee Candle samplers are great for stocking stuffers! You could also buy their wax tarts instead if your loved one uses a wax burner.

Scottish Fine Soaps Tinned Soap - £4.95 each: Well, I am Scottish so there was going to be mention of a Scottish product eventually, although you get these all over the UK. These gorgeous tinned soaps come in all sorts of fragrances including the limited edition Christmassy ones I've shown here!

Impulse Body Sprays - £1.00 - £2.00: Impulse body sprays make great stocking stuffers, I've had many over the years in stockings and they never go wrong, I always pop them in my handbag.

Batiste Dry Shampoo: Another thing that never goes wrong, every girl needs some dry shampoo!

Gilette Venus Razor: This might seem like a strange one, but every year my Mum puts a good quality razor in my stocking. Its an essential and a really useful beauty gift to get!

October Empties

Hello everyone! Just a quick posts to show you my empties from last month, sorry I've left it a bit late!

Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Intensive Mask: £2.50-£4.99 - This is a great hair mask if you're looking for something cheap and cheerful. ASDA usually have it on offer for £2.50.

LUSH Mask Of Magnaminty: £8.75 for 315g - This is one of the Lush face masks that last way longer than two weeks. I found it really refreshing, and actually since I've stopped using it my skin has broken out a bit, so I think I'll need to be restocking!

John Frieda Frizz Ease Hairspray: £2.99 - If you've got curly frizzy hair like me, this hairspray is great! I've only got the mini version but they do a larger size as well.

ELF Daily Brush Cleanser: £3.75 - I did love this product, but now ELF seem to think its ok to sell half the amount of product for the same price as their old bigger bottles. Will be switching to MAC's brush cleanser as its better value for money.

The Body Shop Earth Lovers Shower Gel, Watermelon & Eucalyptis- I got this for free when I joined the Body Shop members club. It was nice, but nothing special.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara: £5.99 - I hated this. The formula was far too wet and the brush was far too big! It might work for you, but for me personally it was rubbish.

MAC Lipstick in Sweetie: £14.00 - This was a lovely shimmer baby pink. I don't think I would repurchase it because I never wore it and it took soooooooo long to use up, but if you like lipsticks with shimmer I think you'll really like Sweetie.

Lush Halloween | Calacas Shower Jelly

Hello everyone! Sorry for the little absence, as usual, life catches up and I just forgot to blog!

With Halloween fast approaching Lush finally got their Halloween stuff in. Not as much as last year, which I was really dissapointed by, so I only picked up one thing:

Calacas Shower Jelly - £3.25 from Lush

Calacas is a spooky slime green shower jelly, that smells of limes. Its not too zesty and sharp, but its not too sweet either, a nice inbetween!

Its supposed to have a spooky skull face in the jelly, but as you can see mines has gone a bit droopy!

Lush shower jellies are really nice to use, a cross between a soap and a shower gel they're so wobbly and fun! Lush only have two jellies in their permenant range, Sweetie Pie and Whoosh, so it was exciting to have a different fragrance to use. If you love Lush but don't own a bath like me, only showers, this is definitely worth trying since you miss out on all the lovely bath stuff!

Until next time, bye bye! :) xx

Lush Haul

Hello everyone! Us beauty bloggers love a trip to Lush, especially around Christmas time. I picked up a few things on two trips to Lush. I don't often get to Lush so to be near one two times in one week, well, I couldn't resist!

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel 250g: £6.50 - I love Snow Fairy. And so do lots of other people, which is why its so popular when it comes out every Christmas. With new girly packaging, it really stands out. I don't normally enjoy sickly sweet scents, but Snow Fairy is different. Its a gorgeous creamy candy scent, it smells a bit like pear drops!

Sweet Soap Of Mine Set: £6.25 - This is a duo of two of Lush's soaps from their permanent line, Rock Star and The Godmother. They come pre packaged together, which is handy if you don't want to go about the fuss of picking and cutting soaps to the right size/price. Rock Star is a lovely sweet scent, I don't know how to describe it, and The Godmother smells just like Snow Fairy!

Fun in Green: £5.00 - This is the newest product from Lush, a multi purpose shower/bath/hair/clothes wash that is also fun, because its mouldable like playdo. It comes in five colours and scents, green, yellow, blue, red and pink. The green one smells like lemon and lime. I tested this out in the shower today, and to be honest, I'm not all that I'm impressed. It smells nice, but it doesn't really lather up very well. Its a bit of a novelty to be honest, and I doubt I'll buy it again! But for kids and those who want a reminder of childhood it might prove more, well... fun!

Thats all for now, bye! :) xx

Lush Haul

Hey all! Went to Lush earlier in the week and treated myself to some goodies, so I thought I'd show you! I'm just beginning to try more Lush products, I've always been a fan of their Shower Jellies and wanted to try even more because they're such a well loved brand.

Tea Tree Toner Water, £3.75 for 100g:
I've never been a fan of toners, but something tempted me to try this: "Comes to the aid of skin that has emergencies. Tea tree is a wonder antibacterial, antiseptic and antimicrobal ingredient for anyone with oily or spot prone skin". Oily? Spot prone? Thats me all right.

Mask of Magnaminty, £8.25 for 315g:
As much as I love the Fresh Face Masks, I hate that they have to be used up so quickly. So I jumped in at the deep end and bought a huge pot of this mask (it also comes in a smaller size). Its green in colour, and minty so it makes your face tingle. It definitely tightens up quite a bit, and cracks if you've got a big grin on your face! Its really nice though and seems to be doing a good job of fighting my spots!

Me in Mask of Magnaminty!
Cupcake Fresh Face Mask, £5.75 for 75g:
Believe it or not, I got this for nothing! The girl behind the counter asked which of the Fresh Face Masks was my favourite, and told me I could have Cupcake for free because they had been taken off the shelves because they were nearing their sell-by date! It still has two weeks of use left, I'm well chuffed! I love this chocolately face mask, its great for fighting my oily spotty skin.

Tea Tree Toner Tabs, 80p each:
I have yet to try these, but I've tried Lush's 'Dream Steam' toner tab before and enjoyed it, but at £2.50 it seemed a bit pricey for something you only use once. At 80p each, I got two of these. They're designed to be dropped into a bowl of hot water and keep your face over it. You can then use the water to cleanse your face, or I've even heard of people bottling the water and using it as a toner!

Sea Vegetable Soap, price depends on weight:
I should have taken this out of the wrapper to show you, because its the most beautiful turquoise colour (I'll leave a photo underneath). It contains seaweed, and smells just like my favourite Lush shower jellie 'Whoosh', very refreshing and great for making you feel better when you're super tired!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got from Lush! I'm really enjoying trying more of their products, any recommendations?

I'll have more posts soon, including a Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick review, an Illamasqua haul and possibly a MAC haul! xx

Review: Lush Cupcake Fresh Face Mask.

I've been looking to try a new face mask for a while. The ones in the packets don't really do it for me, and my Soap & Glory 'The Fab Pore' face mask, as much as I love it, makes my skin sting instead of calming it down. It costs £5.95 for a 75g tub, pretty pricey but you do get quite a lot for a face mask.

So, enter Cupcake from Lush. I've been trying to get into Lush products more over the last few months, and this seemed perfect. A face mask for oily, spotty skin, and it smells like chocolate? Yes please!

It smells super gorgeous, really chocolately with a hint of mint. I've been having a serious phase of breakouts, much worse than I usually do, but I've had this product for just under a week, used it a handful of times and already my face has cleared up and is definitely slightly less oily! It contains linseed infusion to nourish the skin, mint for toning, cocoa butter for moisturising and rhassoul mud to cleanse and absorb grease, all of which I think this face mask does!

Lush says to keep this product refrigerated, but living in Scotland I just keep mine in my bathroom next to the window, I still get that cool, super refreshing refrigerated feeling when I put Cupcake on my face. I leave it on for around 10 minutes, it does tighten up a bit, but its really easy to wash off unlike a lot of other face masks - this one just crumbles away when you splash your face with warm water.

I'm really impressed with this product, and its definitely encouraged me to try more Lush products in the future!

Whats your favourite Lush product? If you'd like to see any product reviewed, just let me know in a comment! x
