Empties | May 2013

I realise I haven't done any empties posts this year, but I finally decided to start collecting my empty products  this month!
from l-r clockwise: Soap & Glory Righteous Butter, The Body Shop Strawberry shower gel & body polish, Garnier Moisture match, Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara, Rimmel Fix & Perfect primer, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, B.Pure Micellar Water.
Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter: I absolutely love this body butter. It's so moisturising and the scent lasts forever. If you put it on the night before, you wake up smelling of that gorgeous S&G scent! Not great if you have sensitive skin, but otherwise give it a go! Repurchase? Yes.

The Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel & Body Polish: The Body Shop shower gels are great, some of the scents are just divine. They lather up nicely. I wouldn't recommend the body polish, it doesn't exfoliate enough for my liking, I like a proper scrub you can feel working! Repurchase? Only the shower gel.

Garnier Moisture Match for combination to oily skin: I really enjoyed using this, it hydrated my skin without making it feel greasy or clogging my pores. Repurchase? Yes.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara: This is one of the best high street mascaras I've tried for a while. It lengthens, volumises and seperates lashes, and although I haven't noticed any considerable growth to my lashes, I haven't been losing any either. Repurchase? Definitely!

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer: This is a pretty bog standard primer, it makes my skin feel smooth. Its nothing special for my oily skin and I can't say it helps keep my make up on any longer. Repurchase? Maybe.

LaRoche Posay Effaclar Duo: Although this isn't the wonder product people hyped it up to be, I do really like the Effaclar duo and use it when my skin gets particularly spotty or greasy. It helps clear up spots and make my pores smaller. Repurchase? Maybe, it's quite pricey.

B.Pure Micellar Water: From Superdrugs new brand, I didn't really like this. It was oily and made my eyes sting. I've tried better micellar waters. Repurchase? No.

MAC | Temperature Rising Eyeshadow Quad

Originally I was never going to get anything from the MAC Temperature Rising, but one thing led to another and here we are!

from l-r clockwise - performance art, temperature rising, swelter, beauty marked.
MAC Temperature Rising Eyeshadow Quad: £38.50 -

I am so so glad I purchased this. This quad is seriously one of the most beautiful things I've owned. My pictures don't do it justice but the colours are really stunning. The colours are as follows;
Performance Art; a frosted golden mauve.
Temperature Rising; a light warm toned peach.
Swelter; a mid-tone grey violet.
Beauty Marked; a charcoal black with red pearl.

I've been loving wearing performance art all over the lid with swelter in the crease and beauty marked to darken up the outer crease. It's such a beautiful palette and surprisingly wearable. It's really versatile too! You could pop temperature rising all over the lid for an everyday look, or use beauty marked to go for a full on smokey eye.

At nearly forty quid this quad is pretty pricey, but I know I'll get use out of this, unlike loads of other palettes I've impulse bought. The quality is up to MAC's usual standards (beauty marked can be a little difficult to work with, but it is a glittery black!) and I have no regrets!

I couldn't get any decent swatches, but if you head over to Heather Davern Make Up (http://www.heatherdavernmakeup.com/2013/05/mac-bare-my-soul-temperature-rising.html) she has some beautiful swatches and a gorgeous FOTD using this palette.

The Skin Regime | Boot Camp For Beautiful Skin | Review & Giveaway

Recently I was sent The Skin Regime: Boot Camp for Beautiful Skin book and a sample of a Glycolic acid peel to try:

The book, by Dana Ramos (pictured above, and at 52 doesn't she look amazing!) talks all about skincare for all ages, and how to get amazing skin by taking care of it and using glycolic peels.

It's packed with loads of skincare tips and tricks, and discusses products to avoid and big name products that are actually rubbish. It tells you how to get the best results using glycolic peels, aftercare and even includes some makeup tips! I found the book really insightful, helpful and a great read.

After trying the peel, my skin felt softer and looked brighter! Glycolic peels are definitely something I'd look into in the future!

The Skin Regime have kindly given me the chance to offer one of you a chance to win a copy of The Skin Regime Boot Camp for Beautiful Skin, and a sample of a glycolic peel to try!

MAC Fashion Sets 2013 | Heroine Lipstick & Pencil

MAC Lipstick in Heroine: £14.00
MAC Lip Pencil in Heroine: £11.50

As some of you may know, I hunted high and low for this lipstick and liner. I tried every online retailer to no avail, they had all sold out! I finally managed to get my hands on them at the MAC counter in Glasgow. I phoned them that morning and they confirmed they had it in stock!

Heroine is a stunning magenta purple, and I love it! It's a lot bolder than anything I would normally go for but I just couldn't resist, I love purple!

The formula is matte, which is my favourite lipstick formula from MAC. Heroine was released as part of a collection last year/two years ago and I've been lusting after it ever since! So glad I have it now.

There's also a lipglass, eyeshadow and nail lacquer all in the Heroine shade. I really love the lipglass but I've started my summer spending ban (post coming soon). The MAC Fashion Sets Collection is selling out very quickly, especially Heroine, but you can still find a few bits and pieces online and in store!

MAC RiRi Woo

Like so many others this morning I received my MAC RiRi Woo lipstick in the post! There are so many reviews up already so I'll keep mine short but sweet.

I'm not the worlds biggest Rihanna fan (I'm a rock n' roll kinda girl), but I admire her style. Plus, I've been dying to try Ruby Woo for so long I thought I might as well get this limited edition version! It seems to be the kind of blue toned red that will suit almost anyone and make your teeth look super white!

This is Rihanna's take on MAC's classic Ruby Woo lipstick. It's a little darker than original, and a little more blue toned, but otherwise very similar. It's got Rihanna's signature embossed on the lipstick, which is cute! It's also a brand new formula; 'retro matte', which is right up my street. The dry texture is akin to Illamasqua's matte lipsticks and I can tell it should last a long time on the lips.

This lipstick sold out on the MAC website within a few hours, but truthfully I could have passed on this. Although it's a gorgeous shade and I have no regrets in that respect, I could have saved my money, saved up some empty containers and did a Back2MAC for Ruby Woo.

I'm more excited about the upcoming Rihanna collections released later this year. From what I've heard there are some really amazing shades, like a matte version of Up The Amp! Did you get RiRi Woo? What did you think?

INAA.com | Bloggers Do It Best Event

Last week I was invited to my first proper blogger event, so exciting! I was invited by the lovely people at INAA.com and Alison Jameson Consultants to the 'Bloggers Do It Best' event on Monday 29th April. It was held at the very swanky Apartment 29 on Royal Exchange Square Glasgow. We were shown upstairs to a gorgeous room where we were treated to vodka cocktails and some nibbles. The venue was absolutely amazing and I wanted to tell you all a bit more about the night!

Lots of lovely bloggers gathered to hear about the potential winners of awards at this years 'Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards'. We also heard lots about INAA.com (which stands for I need an appointment!). INAA is a website that helps salons and clients get connected and is an online booking portal, making booking an appointment with your favourite hair or beauty salon really easy!

The Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards are taking place later this month and us bloggers were the first people to hear about the shortlist of nominees!

Lauren Goodger from The Only Way Is Essex was also in attendance to talk about her new beauty and tanning line, Lauren's Way! We were shown through to another room where there was plenty of wine, special chocolates and a whole range of brands with demonstration stands. Lauren's Way had a tanning booth giving demonstrations but there were also stands from Bumble & Bumble, GHD and Bare Minerals! A raffle was held and one lucky blogger got to go home with a pair of GHD's!

We also got a fantastic goodie bag on the way out, which was incredibly generous! It contained a couple of Lauren's Way products; rollers and a fake tan lotion, a full sized OPI polish and a full size BareMinerals loose eye shadow!

All in all it was an absolutely brilliant night. I had so much fun and met so many amazing fellow bloggers! It was a great chance to meet the lovely ladies and gents I've been chatting to over Twitter and whose blogs I've been reading. I really loved hearing about INAA and the Scottish Hair & Beauty awards too! It was a fantastic night and I really hope I'll be invited to another one! So I'd just like to thank the wonderful people over at INAA and Alison Jameson Consultants for inviting me!

The INAA Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards will be taking place on May 26th, and more information can be found at www.inaascottishhairandbeautyawards.com

Revlon Lip Butters | Juicy Papaya & Sugar Plum

Revlon Lip Butters in Juicy Papaya & Sugar Plum: £7.99 each from Boots & Superdrug - I recently picked up two of the new shades of  the Revlon lip butters and thought I'd show you!

I bought Juicy Papaya, a brand new shade, and Sugar Plum, a previously US only shade.

As I'm sure you all know I absolutely love the lip butters, their moisturising whilst packing a punch of colour! Juicy Papaya is a gorgeous peachy coral shade that I'm dying to wear this summer, and Sugar Plum is a very sheer plummy colour that seems to just darken your natural lip colour a little.

I really really love these and I'll definitely be expanding my lip butter collection with more new shades!
