Wednesday Wishlist | #2

Wednesday Wishlist | #2

Origins Super Spot Remover: £13.00 and Clear Improvement Mask: £20.00 from www.origins.co.uk and Debenhams - I've fancied trying some Origins skincare for while, but its pricey so will be staying on my wishlist for now!

Illamasqua I'mperfection Collection Nail Varnishes: £14.50 each from www.illamasqua.com and Debenhams - These lovely nail varnishes are supposed to look like rare bird eggs, but to me they look like Cadbury's mini eggs! I really fancy the lilac one.

MAC Archies Girls Beauty Powders: £21.50 each from MAC - These aren't out in the UK yet, but I love the look of the Pink Veronica beauty powder. Not sure if I'll get them but they do look lovely!

Lime Crime Carousel Lip Glosses and Lipsticks: £11.50 from www.limecrime.com - I love Lime Crime, and I'd love to get my hands on some of their new shades!

NARS The Happening Palette - Not out in the UK yet, and I'm not sure if it will be! This beautiful palette has four eyeshadows, NARS Orgasm blush and Laguna Bronzer. I really really hope they bring it out here, but its US only at the moment.

MAC The Stylish Brow Collection: - Available any time now, the Stylish Brow collection has been on my radar for a while. I do love a good brow! I have my eye on the Brow Gelcreme and the brow powder duos!

Small Haul | Boots & Superdrug

So, no Shopping The Stash this week! I'm feeling lazy, I've been walking Bailey in the rain and the lighting was rubbish. So instead, here's a small haul from yesterday! My spending cut down is going quite badly! But I did buy most of this with a gift card left over from Christmas.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo - 2 for £15.00 from Boots.
Katy Perry for Eyelure lashes in Ka-Pow! - £6.95 from Boots and Superdrug
Models Own Nail Polish in Jack Frost - £5.00 from Boots
Maybelline 24/7 Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold - £3.99 from Superdrug

These are the newest lashes from Katy Perry and Eyelure! They're a colour pop range, and come in three different colours, black mixed with purple, green or blue. They're designed to make your eye colour pop! These are supposed to be for brown/hazel eyes, but I bought them without realising, as I always though purple made green eyes pop!

I love this polish, I've lusted after it for so long!

I ummed and ahh'd over this for ages, and finally bit the bullet.

Finally, I bought two bottles of  Effaclar Duo. They were two for £15.00 and are £13.00 each, so technically I got one bottle for £2.00! I've heard so many good things about this, and I have really big pores, so I'm hoping this will sort them out!

Hope you enjoyed this wee haul, Shopping The Stash will be back next week!

Rimmel Apocalips | Celestial & Galaxy

I know there have been millions of reviews of these, but here's my two cents!

Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial and Galaxy: £5.99 from Boots and Superdrug - These hotly anticipated lip laquers from Rimmel have finally been released. I bought mine from the Rimmel Facebook shop last week, but they've started to appear in Boots and Superdrug stores now.

I bought two shades, Celestial; a rosy pink, and Galaxy; a plummy purple with shimmer.

These are so so creamy. They apply like a dream and aren't sticky. The doe foot applicator actually has a dip in it meaning you can apply product to your entire lips in one go! I can't say too much about the lasting time yet, as I haven't worn either for long, but so far so good.

Celestial

Galaxy

I'm really liking these so far. I'm definitely impressed, and will purchase more shades in the future, (Stellar, the almost neon pink really caught my eye!). These really do live up to their hype.

Sleek i-Divine | Au Naturel Palette

I definitely should not have bought this Sleek iDivine palette in Au Naturel: £7.99 from Superdrug and www.sleekmakeup.com - I own so many neutral palettes I will never ever use them all up! I definitely didn't need this high street beauty. But I've heard so many good things about the eyeshadow palettes from Sleek, and its very rare I'm near a Superdrug with a Sleek stand

It came in this cute little box. The packaging itself is the usual sleek (no pun intended!) offering from Sleek, plain black with their logo on.

The palette contains 12 eyeshadows, mostly matte, ranging from pale all over the lid colours to an extremely pigmented matte black.

My first six swatches aren't very good, apart from the sixth, a shimmery champagne. The rest are all matte shades with an almost white, pale grey, light brown and two peachy pale shades. They don't swatch well but come across nicely on the eye.

I had better luck with the bottom row of eyeshadows, which are a mixture of matte and shimmery browns, a matte burgundy and a matte black. The least pigmented was the burgundy shade, and the most was the black! That's serious pigmentation for a matte black, I'm impressed.

Overall, I'd say that though I didn't need this palette it is really nice and I will use it!

Wednesday Wishlist | #1

Heres another hopefully regular feature - Wednesday wishlists! Here are a few products I've been lusting after recently:

WednesdayWishlist#1

Urban Decay 'The Great and Powerful Oz' Glinda Palette: £35.00 from Debenhams - This limited edition corker is due to be released at the end of the month! There are two palettes, the light Glinda palette and the darker Theodora palette. I have loads of dark neutral palettes so I fancy something different and have my eye on the Glinda palette!

Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stains: £23.50 from Debenhams, Boots, House Of Fraser - I don't own any YSL  products but I've had my eye on these glossy stains for a while. Some of the shades are absolutely stunning, particularly the darker more purply shades.

Inglot Freedom System Eyeshadows: £4.50 each from Inglot - I bought my first Inglot palette earlier this month and I absolutely love it. If I could afford it I would buy another one in a minute. The quality of the shadows are just fantastic.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers: £5.99 from Boots and Superdrug - These are the newest product from Rimmel, and I've already ordered two from their Facebook shop (now sold out). I suppose they're a cheap version of the YSL glossy stains, and I can't wait for mine to arrive! They should start appearing in shops soon.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade: £21.50 from MAC and House Of Fraser - Sadly, this beautiful skin finish is in the Goodbyes section of the MAC website - but don't worry! - if you miss out like I will be this time, Lightscapade will be returning later in the year as part of the Hayley Williams collection! Hooray!

NARS Blushers in Mata Hari and Douceur: £21 each from NARS and House of Fraser - NARS blushes are on my radar, big time thanks to Laurzrah's NARS blush collection! I already own Sin but Douceur and Mata Hari are now on my wishlist.

Shopping The Stash | #1

Today is the start of a new (hopefully) regular feature on my blog - shopping the stash!

To encourage my spending cut down, I'll be looking out products from my collection to show you. Hopefully this will encourage me to use things more and fall back in love with products I've forgotten about!

I don't know how often I'll be doing this (monthly or weekly) but lets begin:

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Star Wonder (LE)
Soap & Glory Lid Stuff palette in What's Nude - £10.00
Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait - £7.99
Avon Supershock Liner in Golden Fawn - £6.00

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Star Wonder - This was limited edition as part of the Heavenly Creatures collection last year. Its a mix of plum, peachy pink and pale gold swirls, which blend together to create a really shimmery pink. It's too dark for a highlighter on me but it makes a really nice blush.

Soap & Glory 'What's Nude' palette - This is a really nice neutral palette. The matte colours are super pigmented. I own so many eyeshadows this gets forgotten about, but I think I'm going to try and use it up before I buy any more.

Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait - My lip butters are so neglected, they seem to just sit around looking pretty in their quilted packaging. Peach Parfait is so easy to wear I should use it more often.

Avon Supershock Liner in Golden Fawn - This liner is gorgeous, its been called a dupe for a Chanel liner and its so creamy. The shimmery champagne colour looks amazing along the lower lash line.

Hope you enjoyed this first Shopping The Stash post!

Rimmel | Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara Review

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara* was sent for me to try out before it's release in February. I've never been a big lover of Rimmel mascaras, their last few releases have been dissapointing, but I kept an open mind and gave this a go.

This is another member of the Lash Accelerator family, with its sleek yellow chrome and black packaging. The lid for this mascara shuts with a satisfying click, which means air won't get into the mascara easily, hopefully making it last longer!

The formula contains a 'grow lash complex' and fibres which claim to help to make your eyelashes look longer whilst actually making them longer! It isn't too dry or too wet, it sits nicely in the middle. I've never used a mascara with fibres before, so I was interested to see what a difference it would make.

The mascara wand is a long, slim spiky plastic brush which combs through lashes and separates them (no spider lashes, hooray!).

Before mascara!

Uncurled lashes with Lash Accelerator Endless.

My lashes are quite long already, but this mascara just makes them even longer! If you have shorter lashes I think you'll definitely see more of a difference. Another thing about this mascara is that its excellent at defining  your lashes. It does give a bit of volume as well, but its mostly all about the length!

As a lover of volumizing formulas, I was surprised at how much I liked this mascara! I'm not sure about the growth claims just yet. I've can't tell if it makes any difference to the length of my lashes as I've only been using it for a week, but I'll update you on any noticeable lash growth!

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara will be available to buy from 20th February priced at £7.99

New From MUA | Setting Spray, Concealer & Foundation

Hello everyone! I picked up some of the new MUA products from my local Superdrug this week, and have been testing them out since!

MUA Matte Perfect Foundation - £2.00 for 35ml
MUA Pro Base Fixing Mist - £4.00 for 60ml
MUA Pro-Base Conceal & Brighten Kit - £3.50 for 11g

MUA's Pro-Base Conceal & Brighten kit contains two concealers and one face brightening highlighter. I bought the lightest shade, Porcelain-Beige, which contains pink and yellow toned concealers, and a light pink  highlighter.

You get a massive amount of product for £3.50, 11 grams to be precise! The concealers are nice and creamy, and although their lasting time isn't amazing they do cover up spots and dark circles well. A lighter highlighter shade would have been better, but overall I can't complain!

The Pro-Base Fixing Mist is also another winner. Although applying too much can leave my skin feeling a little tacky, on the whole it definitely improves make up wear time! It doesn't quite beat my Urban Decay De-Slick, but its fantastic for everyday use and popping in your bag.

Finally, theres the MUA Matte Perfect Foundation in the shade Fair. I have a mostly bad relationship with cheap foundations, and at £2 this is super cheap. But I really like it! Despite being slightly too yellow toned for me, its quite a good colour match and does apply matte to my skin. It has medium coverage and lasts a couple of hours before my oily skin gets to it.

I'm really impressed with these new offerings, and can't wait to see what MUA come up with next!

Z Palette | Depotting My Book Of Shadows

For years and years, my Urban Decay Book of Shadows 1 and 4 have sat around unused and unloved. I don't know why, Urban Decay eye shadows are amazing. But I put it down to the bulky packaging and not being able to see the shadows easily. So I made the decision to buy a Z Palette from Ebay and depot them.

"What?! How could you?!" Some of you will be screaming I'm sure! Yes, the packaging was pretty, but at the end of the day, this was the most practical option for me!

I started off with a large empty Z Palette and my two Book of Shadows. You can't really understand why I'd want to downsize from this picture, but you will from the next:

As you can see the Book of Shadows are so thick, and a lot of the packaging is useless fanciness. Luckily depotting the shadows was quite easy, they just had to be prised out of the cardboard packaging.

As you can see I've downsized majorly!

I'm so pleased with the result, I can now see all of the eye shadows and have already found myself using them more often! I'd really recommend the Z palette to anyone who wants to depot eye shadows as the palette already comes magnetised, making life super easy!

Brush Cleaner | Recommendations?

Hello beauty lovers and bloggers! Today I'm actually looking for a bit of help, as I'm on the last few sprays of my ELF brush cleaner and won't be repurchasing. ELF now sell 60ml bottles of brush cleaner at the same price that they used to sell a 120ml bottle, rip off! So I'm looking for something new. I do shampoo my brushes but I like a spray for in between washes.

Any recommendations?

MAC Pro Palettes | Lips & Conceal and Correct

MAC have had lots of collection releases at the start of 2013, but the ones I was most excited about were their Pro Palette collections. MAC made two types of their pro palette available, their pro lip palettes and their conceal and correct palettes.

MAC Pro Lip Palette in Preferred Pinks - £35.00
MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette - £35.00

The MAC Pro Conceal & Correct palette contains 4 concealers and 2 correctors. The concealers are the MAC Studio Finish, so are available in the permanent range in little pots.

I bought the 'Light' palette which contains the shades NC15, NW15, NC20 and NW20, and the correctors come in yellow and pink.

I heard so many good things about the studio finish concealers I just couldn't resist this palette for covering everything from spots to dark under eye circles.

The MAC Pro Lip Palette in Preferred Pinks is what I'm really excited about. It contains six different lip colours, some from the permanent range and some Pro colours.

It contains Pretty Please, a light shimmery pink, Please Me, a light matte pink, Lovelorn, a clean bright yellow pink, Creme De La Femme, a rosy pink with shimmer, Show Orchid, a bright fuschia with shimmer, and the famous Violetta, a dark purple/pink with shimmer.

I really love the colours in this palette, especially Please Me and Violetta. Please me is part of the permanent range and I'm really hoping they'll bring Violetta out again.

These palettes are pretty pricey but in my mind definitely worth it.

Benefit | High Flyin' Glosses

This beautiful Benefit High Flyin' Glosses set was a late Christmas present from my cousin and his lovely girlfriend!

I would never have picked this set up as I'm not a fan of tube lip glosses, but now I have these I'm so glad I do. They're so cute! The set contains six mini lip glosses which correspond to the box powders that Benefit also sell. For mini's these are a good size and contain 6.5ml of product each.

The set contains six colours, Coralista, Dallas, Bella Bamba, Hoola, Sugarbomb and Dandelion!

Coralista, Dallas, Bella Bamba

Hoola, Sugarbomb, Dandelion

Coralista is a sheer coral (duh!) with no shimmer, Dallas is a more opaque pinky brown with no shimmer, and Bella Bamba is a sheer bright pink with coral undertones. Hoola is a nude with golden shimmer, Sugarbomb is a dusky pink with gold/silver shimmer and Dandelion is a pale peach with golden shimmer.

All the glosses went on really smoothly and weren't sticky in the slightest, brilliant news! I'm not sure if you can get this set any more but Benefit sell the full sized version of these glosses at £13.50 each, online and at their counters.

Blog Birthday | The Beauty Fiend is 1 Year Old!

Hello everyone, The Beauty Fiend blog is one year old! A year ago today, I sat down and wrote my first blog post!

I can't believe how much has changed in a year because of blogging, my make up collection has almost doubled, my confidence has grown, I'm actually using make up rather than it just sitting around, and most importantly, I've come across some amazing bloggers who make up a fantastic and friendly blogging community!

I'd just like to say thank you to everyone, to all the bloggers that inspire me and mostly to each of my followers! You're all amazing, I appreciate all your lovely comments and your responses are what keep me blogging!

So, I've put together a giveaway for my first birthday that will be up later today or tomorrow. Thanks again to all of you, and I hope I'm writing another blog birthday post in 2014!

Inglot Haul

I am so so excited to show you my Inglot haul! I recently discovered that there was an Inglot store in Stirling, about half an hour's drive away from me. So I pestered my lovely parents and today they drove me there! I had some Christmas money to spend so since I won't be back there for a while, I indulged:

I bought two palettes, one 10 eyeshadow palette and one 4 blush palette from Inglot's Freedom System, where you can pick and choose your own colours to pop in yourself. I also got a gorgeous lipstick.

The shop didn't have all the colours I wanted in stock, but eventually I picked these four colours; 55, 33, 25 and 63. I hate that they don't have names! But, on the plus side I've swatched them all and they're all soooo pigmented. The blushes are £6.50 each and the palette costs £10.00.

Next up is eyeshadows! I wanted a neutral palette with a few plummy/burgundy shades, and thats exactly what I've got. The colours are as follows; 355, 467, 337, 344, 360, 363, 378, 465, 423 and 452. I chose a mixture of mattes and shimmer shades and two shadows have a 'double sparkle' finish.

The shadows are £4.50 each and the palette costs £8.00, which when compared to MAC is so much cheaper. The palettes are really heavy duty and have a magnetic closure so you can take the lid right off.

Finally I picked up this Inlgot Slim Gel Lipstick - £11.00 in the shade 66. This caught my eye while the shop assistant was looking out the colours for my palette. And its amazing, on the lips it seems similar to MAC's Rebel, but with lots and lots of shimmer and glitter. They had another amazing purple with no shimmer as well.

Overall I'm really pleased with my purchases. I'm so impressed by Inglot as a brand and really love their stuff. Now I've been into the store I'd feel more confident buying online as I know what all the finishes look like. And I definiely will because I definitely want more Inglot!

New Year | Beauty & Blogging Resolutions

Happy new year again everyone! Today I'm going to go through a few beauty and blog related resolutions that I hope to keep in 2013 (fingers crossed!):

1. Spend Less - I did ok with my pre-Christmas spending ban, and although I'm not going on another one I'd like to try and cut down my spending after I've used up some of the money I got for Xmas. I'd really like to stick to this one and save up for festival tickets and pay off some of my overdraft.

2. Post More - I'd like to try and post more regularly here on my blog, and not leave huge long gaps between posting.

3. Be More Creative! - This ties in with my first two resolutions, I'd like to be more creative with my posts on the blog and not just do hauls and favourites all the time. I'll try to do more FOTD's, NOTD's, shopping my stash posts and that sort of thing!

4. Take Better Care of My Skin - My skincare routine is basically non-existant and I really need to get a regime going.

5. Wear More Colours! - I always seem to stick to a neutral eye, and although I do love them and they never go wrong, I need to wear more of the colourful eyeshadows I own.

2012 Favourites! | Eyes, Lips & Nails

Firstly, I'd like to say happy new year! I hope you all had a good Hogmanay! I've got more favourites from 2012! This time I'm going to show you my favourite eye, lip and nail products:

First up are these Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Liners in Taupe and Nude. I love love love these liners, they're one of the best products Rimmel brought out in 2012. Rimmel are the first high street brand to bring out a nude liner and the taupe is great for adding definition to the lash line.

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Young Punk has been my party eyeshadow of the year, so glittery and amazing. I've loved the Maybelline Color Tattoo's but particularly On And On Bronze which has been amazing for popping on every day. Finally for eyes I couldn't leave out the MUA palette in Undressed. An amazing dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palette, I've been using it loads.

The Revlon Kissable Balm Stains have been one of my favourite lip products. Darling and Honey are easy to wear and nice and moisturising. MAC's Girl About Town lipstick has probably been my most worn lipstick this year, a beautiful bright fuschia. MAC lipstick formulas are the best about, if you're buying lipstick in 2013 go for MAC!

My favourite nail varnishes from 2012 have to be Jo'Mina by Illamasqua, and Carnival by Technic!

Well, thats my favourites from 2012 over and done with! I'm really looking forward to seeing what 2013 brings for the world of beauty because 2012 was so exciting!
